Baby, Baby

Nun stricke ich mein eigenes Muster, Pepita (aus einem wunderschönen Strang Wollmeise Regenbogen) und muss sagen: Ja, es dauert. Viele Runden Rechtsmaschen mit winzigen Nadeln. Interessant wird es erst, wenn man unten am Po angelangt ist, wo dann Zunahmen und verkürzte Reihen dazukommen. Inzwischen bin ich beim Zwickel, das heißt, die Beinchen sind in Sicht, und von da an ist alles ein Klacks! Der Strampler ist für das Baby meiner Schwägerin, das im November kommt. Eigentlich könnte ich noch mindestens zwei weitere für andere Novemberbabys stricken, aber das ist dann doch zu viel Arbeit. Zumal ja nicht jeder Babystrampler mag, die man nur oben schließen kann (ich bin damit aber immer super zurechtgekommen, und meine Tochter sah darin immer sooooo niedlich aus!). Es gibt ja auch noch Scallo-Pie, das dauert nur einen Abend. Und weil ich an meinem Muster natürlich auch wieder Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten gefunden habe (ahem), gibt es bald eine neue Version. Aber erst, wenn ich die letzte Zehenspitze abgekettet habe…

Knitting my own pattern, Pepita, using a beautiful skein of Wollmeise Regenbogen, and I have to admit: Yes, it takes time. Rounds and rounds of stockinette, but it gets more interesting when you have finally reached the baby bottom where some shaping and short-rows come into play. Luckily, I am already at the crotch increases, so the legs will be coming along, and from there it’s a breeze. This project is for my little niece which is due in November, and I could knit at least two more for friends’ babies which will be born very soon, too. But, well, that’s kind of too much work, considering that not everyone is fond of baby rompers that only close at the top (though I never found that to be an issue, and my daughter looked soooooo lovely and cute when she wore it!). Well, there’s always Scallo-Pie, which is a really quick knit and a nice gift, I think. While knitting the baby romper, I have found a couple of things I will straighten out in the pattern, so it will be easier to knit. But the update will come only after I finish the last toe…
