Buds & Bumbles
Every summer I find myself suddenly without anything hand-knit to wear – even the biggest wool-lovers among us will have to admit that Merino tends to lose its appeal once it’s 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) or more. So this summer I thought I would be clever and knit myself a shawlette out of a nice cotton yarn with long color changes.
It has a cute little bud-stitch pattern that has a subtle lace-like appearance, biased construction and wavy or pointy edges. You can knit it until your yarn is used up, just to the size you love to wear. Knit it now using a cotton or cotton blend so you will have it ready for next summer (unlike me, who finished it just now in the fall), or use a cozy woolen yarn with pretty color changes (there are some great ones around!) to be stylish and warm this season.
