Inspiration

Mein vierjähriger Sohn bewundert meinen Paula-Pullover jedes Mal, wenn ich ihn trage und möchte dann unbedingt “auch so einen mit Wellen”. Damit meint er Zöpfe, wie an den Paula-Ärmeln:

Noch genauer: er möchte unten Zacken, oben Wellen. Und alles in Grün und Hellgrün. Ich habe noch ein paar Knäule Wollmeise 100% in der Farbe Farn. Die wären perfekt. Außer natürlich, dass das Garn superdünn ist und eigentlich (bei mir als Lockerstrickerin) höchstens mit Nadelstärke 2,5 verstrickt werden kann. Also doppelt nehmen? Dann gibt das ein schönes, dickes Gestrick mit üppigen Zöpfen:

Ich muss zugeben, die doppelte Version gefällt mir soooo viel besser. Einfach knuddeliger. Aber für den Alltag im Kindergarten würde der Pulli damit wohl zu warm werden. Und beim Stricken finde ich zwei Fäden auch immer sehr unpraktisch. Also werde ich mich wohl für die einfache Version entscheiden. Die braucht auch nicht so viel Garn. Und ich hab schon alles ausgerechnet und geplant. Aber schade, sehr schade. Die dicke Maschenprobe wärmt mein Herz schon beim Anschauen. Vielleicht mach ich mir eine bezopfte Farnmütze… (Halt! Nein! Nicht noch eine Mütze!!!)

My four-year-old son just loves my Paula Sweater. He admires the pretty “waves” and always says he wants one just like that: “With zig-zags at the bottom and waves at the top. In green and bright green”. So far the instructions. I have some Wollmeise 100%, colorway Farn in my stash that would fit the bill beautifully. Except that the yarn is so thin that I would have to knit it with 2.5 mm needles at the max (I am a notoriously loooooose knitter). And that would take a while. I made two swatches: One with the yarn held double, which I just love. It looks so warm and fluffy and nice and cuddly… but a sweater made of this fabric would probably be too warm for a day at the kindergarten. Plus, knitting two threads at once is always very messy and not feasible for knitting on the bus. My single-stranded swatch looks okay too, but it just does not warm my heart the same way. But it will be the sensible thing to knit the sweater with just one strand. And 2.5 mm needles. Will use up less yarn, at least. Plus, I have already calculated everything. But that other swatch, oh my. Maybe I will knit myself a nice green cabled hat… (No, wait! Not another hat!)
