Mrs Watson

Eines Abends sah ich eine Folge „Sherlock“, und darin kam eine Mrs Watson vor – sie trug ein Kleid mit einem großflächigen Blattmuster, das als Inspiration für dieses Tuch diente. Die Konstruktion war damals, Anfang 2015, komplett neu und nie dagewesen. Mrs Watson erschien dann erst als Teil einer Kollektion der amerikanischen Garnfirma Berroco im Juni 2015, und in der Zwischenzeit brachte ich „Thousand Tulips“ als Strickmich!-Club-Anleitung und „Match & Move“ heraus, die ebenfalls so konstruiert sind.

Darauf bin ich schon ein bisschen stolz: Diese Tuchform, die mittlerweile überall zu sehen ist, habe ich erfunden. Mrs Watson wird aus einem superweichen Alpaka-Garn gestrickt, die hübschen Blätter entstehen durch verkürzte Reihen – aber keine Sorge, die Wickelmaschen müssen nicht aufgenommen werden, so dass das Tuch ganz entspannt zu stricken ist.

One night I watched an Episode of “Sherlock” – it was the one in which Mr Watson has a wife, Mrs Watson. She was wearing a dress with an all-over leaf pattern that served as an inspiration for this shawl. Its construction was, when I designed it in the beginning of 2015, completely new.

It was part of a collection for the yarn company Berroco who published it in June 2015. In the meantime, I had used this new construction for the Strickmich! Club pattern “Thousand Tulips” and “Match & Move”. I must say, I am a little bit proud of myself: This construction, that has inspired so many, was invented by me. Mrs Watson is knit in a super soft Alpaca yarn, and the pretty leaves are shaped by short rows – but don’t worry, you won’t have to pick up the wraps, so it’s a relaxing knit!
